An early Alvar Aalto Model 81 table, dating to the 1930s and retaining its original Finmar label, a highly desirable indicator of its early production period.

The table features Aalto's iconic bent birch 'L-leg' construction, paired with its original black painted top, which beautifully complements the warmth of the natural birch. Its clean lines and innovative construction perfectly embody the functional modernism that established Aalto as one of the twentieth century's most influential designers.

The table displays an excellent, honest patina throughout, acquired over decades of use. The black painted top exhibits expected signs of age, including areas of wear, light scratches, and minor surface marks that contribute to its authenticity and character. The birch frame has mellowed attractively over time, developing a rich colour and surface that is entirely consistent with an original example from the period.

The table was acquired together with the matching Model 60 stools shown in the first and last images, which are available separately. Together they form a classic and highly desirable early Aalto dining, working or occasional set.
