Pierre Jeanneret’s low stools for the Post Graduate Institute, Chandigarh, India. Each stool has a solid teak concave seat with a rich, dark patina, mounted on a painted tripod iron base.
These are well-used examples, showing the character and wear associated with furniture from the Chandigarh project. The teak seats display numerous dents, scratches, marks and areas of wear, while the painted iron bases show paint loss, light rusting and further signs of age and use. The condition is entirely consistent with the stools’ history and, in our view, adds considerably to their character.
The stools are priced as a pair, and we have larger matching sets available. If you are looking for a particular number, please let us know and we will be happy to select the best-matched set and provide images for approval.
We have specialised in Pierre Jeanneret furniture for nearly nineteen years and have extensive experience in identifying, sourcing, restoring and selling his work. Given the number of later reproductions and incorrectly attributed pieces now on the market, we understand the importance of provenance, construction, materials and restoration when assessing Chandigarh furniture. We are always happy to discuss these aspects in detail and answer any questions regarding the authenticity, provenance or restoration of our Jeanneret pieces.
All of our pieces are available to view at our West London showroom.
Additional high-resolution photographs, detailed condition reports and video inspections are available upon request.
We offer local, national and international shipping.
