An exceptionally rare original pair of LCII wall lights designed by Le Corbusier for his architectural projects in India. This is the largest and most sought-after version of the model, commonly referred to as the "Grand Model", manufactured according to Le Corbusier's original specifications for use in Chandigarh and other Indian commissions. This pair was removed from the exterior of a private residence in Chandigarh.

Originally conceived for exterior architectural applications, these sculptural lights possess a remarkable presence and are equally compelling when installed indoors. Their bold geometric form exemplifies Le Corbusier's mastery of functional modernist design, where architecture and lighting become inseparable elements of the built environment.

Both lights retain the majority of their original painted finish. Decades of exposure have resulted in areas of paint loss, revealing naturally oxidised metal beneath. The resulting surface displays a rich patina of varied tones and textures, giving each light a unique character and depth that can only be achieved through age and authentic use.

Each fixture pivots on its horizontal axis using its original locking nuts, allowing installation as either an uplight or downlight. While most examples were originally mounted as downlights, period drawings and documented installations illustrate both orientations in use. The original aluminium internal reflector remains intact, enhancing light output while preserving the historical integrity of the design.

Five examples are currently available and may be purchased individually, as pairs, or as a complete group. Additional photographs showing multiple lights installed together are available upon request.

The lights can be professionally rewired to meet the electrical standards of the purchaser's country. Outdoor-rated lampholders can also be fitted if required, subject to discussion regarding the intended application.

Viewing is welcomed at our West London showroom. High-resolution photography, detailed condition reports, and video inspections are available upon request. We offer local, national, and international shipping.

Please contact us for further information or to arrange a private viewing.
