A set of four Pierre Jeanneret high stools, each comprising a substantial circular solid Burmese teak seat mounted on a slender painted iron four-legged base.

The generously proportioned teak seats have a gently dished, concave profile, giving the substantial timber a softened and comfortable form. Each seat displays a rich, deep patina with natural variations in colour and grain, complemented by the dents, marks and other subtle signs of age acquired over time.

The painted iron bases are formed from four tapered legs connected by a circular intersecting footrest. The metal retains areas of oxidation, wear and paint loss, creating a distinctive contrast with the warmth and depth of the teak.

With their restrained geometry and architectural character, the stools are both sculptural and highly functional. The simple circular timber seat sits lightly above the linear iron frame, while the combination of solid teak and painted metal reflects Jeanneret’s characteristic approach to practical, honest construction.

The stools have been carefully cleaned and sympathetically restored by specialist UK-based museum furniture restorers. The teak has been lightly hand-waxed, preserving the depth and character of its original patina while leaving the surfaces clean and well presented. The iron bases have likewise been cleaned while retaining their natural age, oxidation and historic character.

We particularly appreciate the versatility of these stools and regularly use examples at the gallery. Their proportions and straightforward construction allow them to work equally well as occasional seating or side tables, and we have supplied them for use in galleries, offices and private residences.

This set is priced as a group of four. We currently also have a set of three available and are willing to offer smaller or larger groupings where appropriate. If you require a particular number, please contact us and we can select the best-matched group and provide detailed photographs.

We currently have Pierre Jeanneret stools available in a range of heights, from low and medium to high. If you are looking for stools to suit a particular fixed height or application, please get in touch and we can discuss the available options.

We have specialised in Pierre Jeanneret furniture for nearly nineteen years, with extensive experience in identifying, sourcing, restoring and selling his work.

With the increasing number of later reproductions and incorrectly attributed pieces on the market, we place particular importance on provenance, construction, materials and restoration when assessing Chandigarh furniture.

We are always happy to discuss these aspects in detail and to answer questions regarding the authenticity, provenance and restoration of our Jeanneret pieces.

Viewing is warmly welcomed at our West London showroom.

High-resolution photographs, detailed condition reports and video inspections are available upon request. We offer local, national and international shipping.

Please contact us for further information or to arrange a private viewing.
