We have for sale a communal mortar from the tribal area of NE India, Nagaland. This piece would have bee used either in a large family home or as a communal piece. It was used specifically to powder rice. It is carved from a single piece of wood and has a nice weight to it. It is a two person lift. This would be a great coffee table or as a sculptural addition to any room. We do have further pieces from Nagaland. Please see other wider collection or send us a message for details.
The piece does show heavy signs of its use and age, has depths of patina, has small historical repairs. One side is higher than the other so not flat horizontally. The piece has been lightly cleaned and waxed and is presented in good vintage condition.
As with all vintage pieces the pieces will show signs of wear and use. If there is anything that stands out or overly obvious we will clearly say.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
