A mid-century grain storage vessel from Nagaland, a tribal region in Northeast India, dating to the 1930-60s. Originally made for everyday household use, it would have been used to store rice, grains, and other dry goods as part of traditional domestic life.
The vessel is hand-carved from a single block of Hollock wood and hollowed out using traditional hand tools. The surface has a naturally textured, multi-level finish rather than a refined polish, reflecting its utilitarian origin and handmade construction.
Each piece is unique, shaped by the individual log and the hand of the maker, with no two vessels exactly alike. Signs of age, use, and wear are present and contribute to its authentic character and history.
Today, it can be used as a planter, for decorative storage, or as a sculptural object within an interior, adding natural texture and a sense of tribal craftsmanship.

This is the higher of the two vessels.
