This pair of Pierre Jeanneret Senate Armchairs with black leather upholstery and teak legs is a stunning example of mid-century modern design, merging refined elegance with exceptional craftsmanship. Originally designed for the brutalist city of Chandigarh, India, in the 1950s, these armchairs embody the visionary collaboration between Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier, showcasing timeless design and architectural significance.
Each armchair features a beautifully crafted teak frame, with smooth, sculptural A framed legs that provide a warm and natural contrast to the striking black leather upholstery. The leather is both luxurious and durable, offering both comfort and sophistication. The ergonomic design of the chairs, combined with their clean lines and minimalist form, ensures they are as functional as they are visually captivating, ideal for both modern and classic interiors. The sturdy teak frame adds a sense of lasting quality, while the rich patina give a authentic vintage feel that enhances the character of these chairs.
These Pierre Jeanneret Senate Armchairs are not just seating, but a piece of architectural history, reflecting Jeanneret’s vision and attention to detail. Their timeless appeal, combined with their rich craftsmanship, makes them a perfect addition for design enthusiasts or collectors seeking to own a true piece of mid-century modern legacy.
The chairs are all in good vintage condition, as with all out Jeanneret pieces the chairs have been restored in London using a museum quality restorer. The leather, internal strapping, springs and foam have been replaced and are presented in unused condition since being upholstered.
