This exceptional set of ten Pierre Jeanneret Conference Armchairs, crafted in teak with their signature cane seat and back and ‘A’ frame, is a true masterpiece of mid-century modern design. Designed by Jeanneret for the brutalist city of Chandigarh, India, in the 1950s, these chairs seamlessly blend functionality, elegance, and cultural influence, embodying the visionary principles of both Jeanneret and Le Corbusier.
Each armchair features a robust teak frame, showcasing the rich grain and natural beauty of the wood, while the handwoven cane seat and backrest add a sense of lightness and texture. The open, airy design of the chairs invites comfort, with a refined, ergonomic structure that makes them ideal for both formal and informal settings were these chairs offer a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic.
The set’s meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful design provide both durability and style, with each chair exuding a sense of history and purpose. The patina that has developed over time only adds to their authenticity, making this collection not only functional but a truly rare and valuable piece of architectural history.
The chairs are all in good vintage condition, as with all out Jeanneret pieces the chairs have been restored in London using a museum quality restorer. All the pieces are structurally solid. The cane on all the chairs has been replaced and aged to match the deep patina of the chairs.
