The Alvar Aalto 111 Shelf, designed in 1933, is a quintessential example of Aalto's innovative approach to modern design. With its clean lines and functional beauty, this shelving unit effortlessly blends into any interior.
Crafted with laminated birch plywood with birch veneered shelf the piece is both practical and aesthetically striking, showcasing Aalto’s mastery of woodwork and his focus on form and function. The design features a simple yet elegant framework combining naturally polished and ebonised wood.
The shelf retains its original Finmar label dating the piece to between 1933-38. This is the first production and earliest version of this model.
The piece is in very good vintage condition. The frame has age related patina, and does have small marks, dent and general signs of age but nothing that detracts.
