A very rare pair of guéridon tables by Jean-Michel Frank, dating to 1938 and produced in Argentina by Comte during the designer’s South American period.

These elegant tables embody Frank’s refined minimalism and pared-back geometry, attenuated iron supports, and the subtle warmth of woven rattan. The circular tops rest lightly upon slender painted iron frames, achieving a remarkable sense of balance between structural clarity and organic texture. Their restrained proportions make them exceptionally versatile: ideal as occasional tables, flanking pieces, or sculptural accents within both modern and classical interiors.

Examples from Frank’s Argentine production are particularly sought after, representing an important chapter in his late career. Surviving documented pieces of this model are rare, especially in authenticated form.

The tables are in good vintage condition. The iron frames show age-related patina and have been overpainted at some point in their history. The rattan is original, intact, and without breaks, displaying honest signs of age.

Since certification by the Comité, we have not undertaken any restoration.

We have considered sympathetically removing the later overpaint and, if appropriate, replacing and carefully toning new rattan to maintain period integrity. Having previously restored Jean-Michel Frank works to museum standards, we would be pleased to discuss conservation or restoration options with prospective buyers according to preference.
