A true icon of mid-century Italian design, this rare matching pair of Model 551 lamps was created by the legendary Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce in the 1950s. With their distinctive minimalist silhouettes and bold black and white enameled aluminum shades, these pieces perfectly embody Sarfatti’s visionary approach to lighting — functional, sculptural, and timelessly modern.
This is a particularly special opportunity to acquire a matched pair in contrasting colours, an uncommon find. Designed to be used as either table or wall lamps, they feature original black and white finishes on the shades, elegantly complemented by patinated brass frames. The adjustable heads allow for directional lighting, balancing striking form with everyday practicality.
Both lamps show light surface wear — including scratches, small dents, and minor paint loss — consistent with age and use, but nothing that detracts from their overall beauty or presence.
